How to use this route
- Confirm the Texas credential has a similar scope and has been held at least one year.
- Request official license, examination and training verification.
- Submit the Virginia tradesman ULR application and fees.
- Obtain the Virginia license and any contractor-business approval before work.
Conditions and limitations
Virginia does not list a blanket Texas electrical reciprocity agreement. A qualifying Texas licensee may apply through Universal License Recognition after holding a similar valid license for at least one year and meeting Virginia examination, training, good-standing, criminal-record and fee conditions. Virginia must issue the license before work begins.
Reciprocity never authorizes work before the destination authority issues the required license. Business registration, insurance, local permits and continuing education remain separate.
