Ohio electrician license reciprocity with Tennessee: A Ohio electrical license does not transfer automatically to Tennessee.
Ohio electrician license reciprocity with Tennessee result
The Tennessee Board must approve the Ohio verification and issue a Tennessee CE license. The waiver applies only to the contractor trade exam, not LLE, Home Improvement or other programs.
How to use this route
- Identify the destination license matching the planned scope.
- Request official verification of the existing license and examination history.
- Apply through the standard out-of-state route.
- Complete any required experience review, examination and business licensing.
Conditions and limitations
An active Ohio electrical contractor license may support Tennessee’s trade-exam waiver agreement, but it does not transfer the license or authorize work. Tennessee Business and Law and all application, financial, insurance, entity and fee requirements remain.
Reciprocity never authorizes work before the destination authority issues the required license. Business registration, insurance, local permits and continuing education remain separate.
