California electrician license reciprocity with Arizona result
The California-to-Arizona direction is not the reverse of California’s classification-specific agreement. Arizona independently reviews the active out-of-state license, original trade examination, scope and recent license history before deciding whether to waive part of its normal route.
How to use this route
- Choose Arizona C-11, R-11 or CR-11 for the intended scope.
- Submit the out-of-state waiver request with California license and exam verification.
- Complete the Arizona Statutes and Rules course and examination.
- Satisfy business, background-check, bond and licensing requirements before contracting.
Conditions and limitations
Arizona states that it has no direct contractor-license reciprocity with any state. A California C-10 licensee may request an individual trade-exam or experience waiver if the Arizona ROC finds the license comparable and the published out-of-state criteria are met; the Arizona Statutes and Rules exam is not waived.
Reciprocity never authorizes work before the destination authority issues the required license. Business registration, insurance, local permits and continuing education remain separate.
