California electrician license reciprocity with North Carolina result
The NCBEEC electrical reciprocity list includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia, but not California. California contractor reciprocity in other classifications does not create North Carolina electrical reciprocity.

- Check whether an accepted NASCLA electrical examination already satisfies the exam route.
- Otherwise apply for and pass the NCBEEC examination.
- Apply for license issuance and complete the required business listing before contracting.

North Carolina does not list California among its formal electrical reciprocity states. Apply through the North Carolina examination route, or use an accepted NASCLA electrical examination transcript if independently eligible.
Reciprocity never authorizes work before the destination authority issues the required license. Business registration, insurance, local permits and continuing education remain separate.
